CFDC is involved with a number of business training events often with the partnership of Canada Revenue Agency, Small Business BC and others. Most training events that CFTC involves itself with are focused at business topics.
Small Business BC (SBBC) workshops are all conducted by video conference (VC) and coordinated by SBBC and are linked to the VC facilities at the CFTC office in Kamloops. All Kamloops clients that participate in these VC events attend the workshop at the CFTC location at # 101 - 286 St. Paul St., Kamloops, BC. For a detailed calendar of SBBC events please click here.
Other workshops are delivered from time to time at CFTC. As an example on November 3, 2009 CFTC will host a Canada Revenue Workshop on Small Business Tax for Sole Proprietors. For more information click here.
It is expected that a new series of workshops will be delivered through CFTC in the fall of 2009 on Business Succession Planning. Workshops will include information on business succession through the sale of the business, employee buyouts, family transfers etc. based on best practices research. This program is being developed as an initiative with Community Futures British Columbia and the BC Chamber of Commerce. The Ministry of Housing and Social Development, Labour Market Development has provided funding to Next Steps Enterprise West Society to develop the modules for the program.
